San Pedro Tri Art Festival Promises Free Family Fun

Louise Reichlin, producer and dance director, today announced the 2013 San Pedro Tri Art Festival, a free family entertainment event, set for September 21 and 22 at Ports O' Call Village in San Pedro.

Los Angeles, CA, August 14, 2013 -- Louise Reichlin announces this year's San Pedro Tri Art Festival at Ports O'Call Village in San Pedro.  Known for her innovative work as artistic director for Los Angeles Choreographers and Dancers, she joins forces with local businesses to produce this year's event, which promises fun and entertainment for the entire family, free to the public.

The 2013 festival coincides with the 135th anniversary of the city of San Pedro and commemorates the vision of its founder, Joe Caccavella.  "When he started the festival in 2007, he visualized the festival as a tribute to three art forms and gave the festival its official name.  His aim was to showcase the music, dance, and visual arts and present them to the public in two days of family enjoyment, using the beauty of the city of San Pedro itself as a backdrop and as a haven for the arts," said Reichlin.  "Joe is no longer with us, but we want to carry on the tradition he started."

The festival is held at the south end of the Ports O' Call Village in the special events area on the outdoor stage at the waterfront (1199 Nagoya Way, San Pedro, CA  90731), just a 20-minute drive from downtown Los Angeles.  Parking is free.  Attendees will experience the excitement of performances like those from Los Angeles Choreographers and Dancers, previously described as "wildly theatrical" by California Magazine.  The Los Angeles Times has said that Reichlin's work is "probing and provocative with an engaging dance imagery matched to a sophisticated sense of choreographic structure."  KCRW Radio describes her style as one that "mixes modern and traditional folk with intriguing results... a fresh approach and sense of fun."

The 2013 San Pedro Tri Art Festival is supported by grants from the California Arts Council, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Los Angeles County Music in Public Places, and the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, as well as
