Financial Firm Selects Entrepreneur Scholarship Winners

FSW Funding, headquartered in Phoenix recently awarded scholarships to two students that embody the entrepreneurial spirit. Michael Mefford, who will be entering his third year at Arizona State University, majoring in economics and supply chain management, and Shireen Jaffer who will be a junior at University of Southern California where she earning a bachelor of science in business administration with an emphasis in entrepreneurship. Each student will receive $2000 for the 2013/2014 school year.

“This is the fourth year we’ve awarded an ASU student and the first year we are expanding the program to USC,” stated Robyn Barrett, founder and managing member of FSW Funding. “We work with small and mid-size companies many of which started by an entrepreneurial idea. We now want to encourage the next generation of ideas.”

Mefford is the president of the Enactus Club, which focuses on international organization entrepreneurship. He also serves as a project leader and designer for Global Food Registry. In her freshman year Jaffer created Project SuitUp, which helps develop high school and college students to be professionally successful. The organization provides students with valuable professional networks, mentors from various industries, and internship sources for students to acquire practical experience. It also hosts local networking events for our students to meet professionals and ambitious peers within their communities. Jaffer has also been recognized for her entrepreneurial work as a Greif New Venture Seed Competition finalist.

FSW Funding founder Robyn Barrett, established the FSW Funding Entrepreneurial Scholarship in 2009 to recognize and encourage students with entrepreneurial endeavors.
