Press release from: Hexagon Game Labs GmbH

/ PR Agency: Quinke Networks
Hamburg, 18 July 2013: Announcing its debut title, “SteamPower1830” (http://www.steampower1830.com), the new game development studio Hexagon Game Labs (http://www.hexagongamelabs.com) is about to launch its first platform-independent free-to-play (F2P) online game. SteamPower1830 presents a challenging cross-genre mix which combines city-building, strategy and resource management elements and is set in the age of the steam trains, complete with a vibrant and evocative, freely configurable miniature world. The game is based on Hexagon Game Labs’ proprietary Ubique Game Engine, with HTML5 technology allowing it to run on any device, from PCs and tablets to smartphones and smart TVs.

On track to your own railway and business empire! The invention of the steam engine marked the dawn of the industrial era, which transformed the world and is now the theme of SteamPower1830. Players dive right into the steam age, using their imagination to shape their own, dynamic world of railroad tracks and cities in this complex strategy game. At the same time, the object is neither a re-enactment of historic events, nor does the game claim to provide an exact representation of original trains.

A map of Europe offers players a choice of 30 levels which are successively activated as the game progresses. On each map, the aim is to construct and manage railway lines, stations and steam trains to transport goods, and players are given complete freedom in designing the layout of cities and railway networks. The most important thing, however, is extracting and gathering resources to let the cities flourish and to expand one’s railway empire. Apart from the maps with a European scenario, SteamPower1830 gives the option of playing on an infinite number of new, randomly generated maps.

Peter Cukierski, Hexagon Game Labs founder and CGO, describes the game’s flexible approach: “SteamPower1830 is geared to suit both the casual gamer as well as experienced fans of strategy games. Easy to learn, but difficult to master, it provides exactly the right amount of challenge for each type of player.”

In keeping with the company’s philosophy, the HTML5-based F2P game requires nothing more than an Internet connection and a common browser. By employing cloud technology, the platform can be changed at any time during a session without interrupting gameplay. With a loading time of less than two seconds irrespective of the platform used, the fun can begin instantly. Plug-ins and downloads are now a thing of the past.
