UXcamp 2013 – Sucess for Centigrade

08-26-2013 05:37 PM CET | IT, New Media & Software

Press release from: Centigrade GmbH

At the 22nd and 23rd of June, the UXcamp Europe 2013 took place in Berlin. Centigrade accompanies the event from the very beginning, and contributed to the success of the event through several lectures and the t-shirt sponsorship.

This year about 650 participants attended the camp, which focuses on user experience. All visitors were encouraged to actively participate in the barcamp and Centigrade made also use of this option:

Martin Hesseler, Interaction Designer at Centigrade, reported on challenges in the communication with several parties in customer projects. Using examples and anecdotes, he pointed to problems of daily project routine and associated strategies. He initiated a lively discussion in which the participants of the session exchanged their experiences and approaches.

The lecture from Centigrade User Interface Design Engineer Alexander Keller focused on the challenges in the development of resolution-independent user interfaces. Using practical examples from the web and the desktop world, he discussed problem cases and successful approaches to resolution-independent interfaces. It became clear that it is worthwhile to put the context of use at the center, rather than concentrating too much on the technical specifications.

The enrichment of non-gaming processes through playful elements for the purpose of motivation or customer loyalty is often described with the term gamification. Jörg Niesenhaus, branch manager of Centigrade Mülheim, presented in the course of his talk examples of the integration of playful elements to motivate staff and increase efficiency in the industrial production. Thereby, he focused on the specific requirements of industrial production, which differ significantly from the majority of popular applications of gamification.

Jörg Niesenhaus was taken with the UXcamp 2013: “Centigrade is proud to accompany the UXcamp from the beginning and it has been great to watch the barcamp growing from year to year. 2013 was the highlight of this development. The event was well organized, saw lots of high-quality lectures and there were lots of opportunities to exchange experiences with interesting people. Certainly we are at the UXcamp next year again.”
