Architectural aluminium fabricator, Guttermaster, has joined the Pioneer Guarantee Scheme. The unique, insurance backed, ten-year warranty offers extensive protection underpinned by a rigorous quality audit and inspection programme at modest cost.

“The components we provide, gutters, rainwater down pipes, soffits and aerofoil fascias can be subject to high wind and snow loadings. These factors are taken into account in their design, manufacture and installation. Having an independent third party double check our calculations, procedures and site work helps to further safeguard our reputation and protect everyone form the time and monetary penalties of failure and rectification,” commented managing director Mike McKee.

Guttermaster joins an elite band of roofing and cladding contractors who are able to offer clients complete confidence in the integrity of the entire building envelope. Pioneer guarantees are provided through Alliance Warranty Management (AWM) and administered by Building and Land Guarantees. The insurance provider is an ‘A’ rated insurance company. Premiums start from as little as £750 for the 10 year policy with AWM audits priced in addition.

“To qualify for the scheme we have had the AWM inspectors review every facet of the business, from looking at our accounts over the last three years to scrutinising our manufacturing processes and quality systems. They have also audited our installers and will regularly inspect participating contracts as work proceeds,” explained Mike McKee.

The first Guttermaster contract to qualify for the scheme was undertaken for Harlow Council and involved the conversion of a flat roof to pitched. This was undertaken in with roofing contractors Art Contracts Limited of Banbury, who are also scheme members. The entire roof construction and its drainage system are therefore covered by the warranty.

A Pioneer guarantee provides cover against defective workmanship or materials for a 10 year period. The initial two years rely on the supplier, but, in the unlikely event of a supplier ceasing to trade, then the insurance backed warranty will cover the whole ten year period.
