The Memothentic Collection and the NFL Take Sports Memorabilia to the Highest Level
The Memothentic Corporation has joined a prestigious class of companies: those licensed by the National Football League to sell autographs in a sports memorabilia piece."We are honored to be partnering with the NFL, one of the most recognized brands and biggest licensors in the world," said Kelly Johns, chief executive officer of The Memothentic Corporation.
The Memothentic Collection has been heralded as one of the most complete and unique collectibles to enter the sports memorabilia market in years.
Legends of the game are among those who have praised the collection.
"The Memothentic has redefined sports memorabilia -- the quality is stunning, and it is one of the most unique collectibles I have ever seen," said former San Francisco 49er running back Roger Craig.
Craig was selected to the Pro Bowl five times. He was named the NFL's Most Valuable Player in 1988, winning Sports Illustrated Player of the Year honors that same season.
Johns said The Memothentic is the result of hard work and commitment to excellence -- the same traits that celebrated athletes exhibit.
"We were determined to solve three problems that most collectors face," said Johns. "The first problem is that most memorabilia doesn't contain significant memories. The word 'memorabilia' comes from the word 'memorable,' and is defined as events or experiences worthy of remembrance. An autographed football jersey is nice, but the only thing memorable about it is that your favorite player wore something similar to it at some point in his or her career.
"The second problem," Johns continued, "is that there are very few complete memorabilia pieces -- something that contains a complete story or something that has several elements that really capture a significant moment in time. In my experience, collectors gravitate toward memorabilia that has depth, and is complete and ready to hang on their wall.
"Finally, the third problem is affordability," Johns said. "Most people are familiar with walking into high-end sports memorabilia shops and being afraid to ask 'How much?' because they know they probably can't afford it. We wanted to develop something that all fans can afford."
The Memothentic is the first memorabilia piece to contain a handwritten memory of what the athlete or celebrity was thinking during a memorable moment of his or her career.
The Joe Montana San Francisco 49ers Memothentic Series 1 entry is a case in point.
Known as "The Warm Up," the piece features a picture of Joe Montana warming up for Super Bowl XIX in 1985. It includes a handwritten memory of what Joe was thinking as he prepared for one of the biggest games of his legendary career. (Later in the day, he was named Super Bowl MVP.)
The Memothentic features a unique, hand-crafted, authentic NFL jersey abstract collage that features the NFL shield, the player's name and number, and an official NFL jersey tag.
"It is also a great honor to have Joe Montana as a part of The Memothentic Collection," said Johns, who signed a deal earlier this year to create several Joe Montana Memothentic pieces.
Joe Montana is considered by many to be one of the most collectible football players in the history of the NFL and arguably the greatest quarterback ever to play the game. He is one of only two quarterbacks who've won four Super Bowls, and he was named MVP in three of those four victories (Montana is the only player in NFL history to win three Super Bowl MVP's).
The Memothentic Collection also includes legendary running back Barry Sanders and several other Pro Football Hall of Fame Inductees.
The NFL is currently featuring Montana's "The Catch" Memothentic in their national Father's Day Super Dad Sweepstakes.
Johns said that the company is submitting applications to all major sports leagues, including Major League Baseball, the NBA, NCAA, NHL, NASCAR and others. He added that, due to the unique design of the Memothentic, the company expects be able to protect the product's design and concept.
"The great thing about the Memothentic is that it transcends sports," Johns said.
The firm is already creating celebrity Memothentics, movie Memothentics, TV show Memothentics and more, Johns said.
"People love to reminisce about important moments in time," Johns said. "Everyone remembers where they were at during important moments in history, and they love to tell their kids about things from the past and how things were at that time."
The company also has a custom division that allows people to create their own Memothentics based on their own special memories. Among the offerings are a high school and little league sports Memothentic where the coach or a parent can write a memory of the season or game.
Also in development is a "Baby Memothentic" that allows parents to write memories of the birth of a child. The piece then is framed to look very similar to the professional sports version.
"Imagine having a quote from your grandfather, something that he you wrote about you or your family, complete with a picture and some other memorable artifact -- it would be passed down for generations," said Johns.
The Memothentic Collection is available in three different versions: an unsigned version, which is the most affordable ($147 retail); an autographed version (averages $297 retail); a high-end, deluxe version that retails for around $900.
Each version contains a handwritten memory that is reproduced on a thick, glossy card that sits inside of a space-saving, shaped frame.
You can get more information at www.Memothentic.com or you can go to the official company blog at www.Memothentic.com/blog where you can read about the history behind each Memothentic and you can even win a Memothentic of your choice by posting your own memory on the blog.
