America's Boating Channel Receives 2022 IBWSS Communication Award

Raleigh, NC, 17 March 2022 - America's Boating Channel™ has been honored by the National Safe Boating Council (NSBC) with its 2022 IBWSS Communication Award for Video Public Service Announcement (PSA) Series.

The award for the video service's fifth season of boating safety and boater education titles was presented by NSBC Communications Director Yvonne Pentz during the closing ceremony of the International Boating and Water Safety Summit (IBWSS) on Wednesday March 16 in Washington, DC.

Accepting the IBWSS Communication Award was Marty Lafferty, Grant Project Manager for America's Boating Channel, which is produced by the United States Power Squadrons® (USPS) under a grant from the U.S. Coast Guard.

"The 2022 PSA Series Award goes to America's Boating Channel for its Season Five videos entitled 'KNOWLEDGE VERSUS SKILLS,' 'WEAR AN ECOS,' 'INFLATABLE LIFE JACKETS,' 'CARBON MONOXIDE DANGERS,' 'COLLISION AVOIDANCE,' 'BUI FATALITIES,' 'NEW LABEL BENEFITS,' 'FIRE EXTINGUISHER STANDARDS,' 'BASIC MARINE COMMUNICATIONS,' and 'COLD WEATHER BOATING,'" said NSBC spokesperson Grace Brown.

America's Boating Channel videos are enjoying higher viewership levels as Americans have increasingly turned to boating as a recreational outlet during the coronavirus pandemic. Screening boater education videos is an excellent way for boaters to prepare for safer experiences on the water.

America's Boating Channel's sixth season of videos, now in production to premiere later in 2022, includes "FIRE EXTINGUISHER REGULATIONS," "DEFENSIVE BOATING," "ELECTRONIC CHARTS AND VIRTUAL ATONS," COMMERCIAL TRAFFIC," "TRAILERING A BOAT," "LIFE JACKET WEAR," "BOAT OPERATOR RESPONSIBILITIES," "NAVIGATING INLETS," "ELECTRONIC VISUAL DISTRESS SIGNALS," and "CAPACITY COMPLIANCE."
