Chicago, IL, USA – Grundig Business Systems, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of professional dictation solutions, will be presenting an enhanced portfolio of new digital dictation devices designed to increase comfort and boost the workflow efficiency of legal offices. At the ILTA ’07 (Orlando, FL, August 20 – 23, Booth 908), visitors will experience the new portable DigtaSonic x420 device, the design-oriented DigtaSonic xMic dictation microphone and a trio of new transcription starter kits. Both the DigtaSonic xMic and the DigtaSonic x420 come with a smooth ‘Soft Touch Composite’ finish and support the new DSS Pro format, while the transcription starter kits allow mobile, desktop and transcription users benefit from the advantages of digital dictation technology in a cost-effective way.

DigtaSonic x420: Top of the range for professional users

The digital DigtaSonic x420 is the first of the Grundig Business Systems’ portable devices to support the improved DSSPro voice standard and comes with a smooth ‘Soft Touch Composite’ finish and bright color display. It boasts both enhanced security and optimum sound quality, the latter an important consideration for those using voice recognition software. The ergonomically shaped, high quality casing features a smooth, rubberized coating designed for extra grip and comfort while the familiar slide switch makes for easy one-handed, intuitive operation. The DigtaSonic x420 is geared to the power user and can be tailored accordingly. The 128 MB internal memory allows up to 20 hours of voice recordings, with extra capacity available via the DigtaCard memory cards. It can also be used as a fully functional desktop USB microphone via the USB interface.

DigtaSonic xMic: New standard in desktop dictation

Following a detailed ergonomic study, the new DigtaSonic xMic microphone was deliberately designed with a tall, slim look to enable users to keep their hand low and supported rather than having to constantly lift the device up to speak. It is weighted specifically to sit more comfortably in the palm and its smooth, sleek finish comes courtesy of the new black ‘Soft Touch Composite’ rubberized coating. Together with the extra wide slide switch for easy one-handed operation, the new microphone enables users to speak for longer without discomfort or strain. Users can even continue using the mouse while at their PC, as the microphone includes an integrated ‘Track Point’ tracker ball control with two mouse buttons on the rear. Speech files are effortlessly transferred to the PC via the USB cable, while the integrated sound card and high-grade speakers make for quality audio recording and play-back. It also supports the new DSSPro standard, which provides improved audio quality and supports an encryption algorithm.

Starter Kits: Digital dictation for fast starters

Grundig Business Systems’ new starter kits provide a cost-effective out-of-the-box solution for any scenario. The DigtaMobile Starter Kit includes the portable Digta 405 for dictation and all the necessary hardware, software and licensing for transcription, while the DigtaDesktop Starter Kit is recommended where the majority of dictations are office-based. It comprises the DigtaSonic xMic Classic, a USB foot control, USB headphones and the DigtaSoft PC software, together with the relevant licenses. The DigtaTranscription Starter Kit offers a complete transcription solution, with the DigtaFootPedal 538 USB foot control, the DigtaStethoclip 518 USB headphones and the DigtaSoft PC software. The three kits have all the advantages of the standard solutions from Grundig Business Systems and the network software allows dictations to be transferred rapidly and files to be sent directly to the typist via email.

The Annual ILTA Educational Conference (ILTA ’07) takes place in Orlando, Florida, from August 20 – August 23, 2007, and is organized by the networking organization ILTA, which helps to maximize the value of technology in support of the legal profession. As part of its increased activities in the US, Grundig Business Systems has recently become a silver sponsor of the ILTA. For more information please visit Grundig Business Systems at booth 908.
