Conditioning fiber optic cables in a compact case

Dortmund, 3 April 2013. As a leader in the multi-fiber technology and an international successful company, which has specialized in the development and manufacture of scalable cabling systems “made in Germany”, tde – trans data elektronik GmbH extends its portfolio with a conditioning fiber case. tde’s fiber suitcase facilitates OTDR measurements in the field. Clients can individually determine the fiber types, the connection technologies and the length of the fiber optic cables.


Correct OTDR measurements

Conditioning fiber cables are needed to implement OTDR measurements properly because OTDR measure instruments have a so called “dead zone”. That’s why optical fiber cables are added in advance and afterwards. In this way, fiber optic connectors can be measured at the beginning and at the end of the routes on the patch field. During the OTDR insertion losses and return losses are measured for the entire route as well as for the separate transition points.

“We developed this tde conditioning fiber case, which facilitates ODTR measurements significantly” says André Engel, CEO of tde. Thanks to the hard-case the fiber optical cables are ideally protected against damages caused by transport or the construction area. The case with protection IP65 also keeps off dampness and dust. Another benefit: the connectors are fitted directly to the conditioning fiber cables so that no additional splice can distort the measurements.

Customized configurations

„We offer our conditioning fiber case in a lot of customized configurations to satisfy the wishes of all our customers“, says André Engel. All fiber types as well as lengths up to 1000 meters are available, special editions included: Conditioning fiber cables up to 40 kilometers have already been produced. With regard to connection technology, all current fiber optic cables are available depending on the requirements. Furthermore the case offers a winding frame for fan-outs up to five meters.

Documented quality

The conditioning fiber case is built on the experience and development know how of tde. The documented quality of measurements speaks for itself: the records of each measurement of interferometry, insertion losses and return losses are delivered as standard. tde offers a quick repair service for defect fiber cables. „We want our partners to perform their measurements efficiently and in a simple way.
