OMNINET – a leading supplier of software solutions for automating IT services based on the ITIL and other frameworks has released new versions of OMNITRACKER Business Process Templates. They provide new features and enhancements for IT Service Management Center, Project Management Center, and Systems Engineering Center.

OMNITRACKER IT Service Management Center now features Process Models. Process models can be used to define standard procedures based on a series of activities or work orders. When creating new objects such as incidents, a process model can be assigned. As soon as the object is set to the state “In Progress”, the activities are created and assigned automatically.

Change Proposals have been introduced to enhance the Change Process. A Change Proposal Object in OMNITRACKER holds information about the initial requestor, the topic and classification in terms of priority, risk and other aspects. The Change Manager is in control of the complete workflow as soon as the Change Proposal has been submitted. If additional activities like meetings need to be scheduled, this can be done directly on the Change Proposal form. In case the Change Proposal is approved, one or more RFCs can be created from it.

Lists of CAB members and approvers on a change do not have to be populated manually anymore. You can now define stakeholders on CI level. There is now a feature that copies the list of stakeholders from all selected CIs into the change. It is also possible to include stakeholders of CIs that have dependencies to the directly affected CIs. Example: a change to a server might also affect stakeholders of IT services that are hosted on this server.

OMNITRACKER Project Management Center is now even closer integrated with OMNITRACKER Systems Engineering Center. Either complete or parts of requirement specifications can be assigned to projects and project phases; individual requirements can be assigned to activities. Implementation efforts estimated on requirements level help project managers in the planning process.

OMNITRACKER Systems Engineering Center provides most of the features that have been available for the Windows Client now also for the Web Client. Besides that, other improvements have been implemented for the Release Management process. For instance, a new time line view makes it easy to plan new releases. It can also be used to retrieve a roadmap of upcoming releases. The ‘Release Note’ report has been improved to support package releases, i.e. it comprises information related to the package release itself as well as for all contained releases.
