Chinese manufacturers claims price increase due to high demand as Flash Drive technology moves into the PC and I-Pod fields. “I feel that the tremendous price increase may be artificial to a degree, however with only 4 major flash drive manufacturing plants in China and with the increase in flash drive usage with computers, TV’s, camera and many other memory driven electronics it is understandable that the price will go up. What Flash Drive Direct has done to protect the promotional products customer is strike a long term pricing deal with the factory, essentially buying production time into the future” states promotional products guru John Graham.

Even in the face of huge price increases Flash Drive Direct has decided to further expand its US operations. “A driver for this business expansion is the high demand for environmentally friendly products” states the U.S’s largest promotional products reseller Corporate Express. Eco-friendly is most often seen as picking up trash and recycling. What is often not thought about is the use of energy and how that adversely affects the environment. The energy required to burn information onto a CD is up to 100 times the amount used to load the same information onto a Flash Drive. Multiply this use of energy (energy produced by burning coal, natural gas or hydro electricity) by the 1 billion CDs burned each year it becomes easy to see why Flash Drives are an environmental winner and why this company has chosen to expand its business.
