Acoustic module with the textile surface ETTLIN lux® Decolux

At this year’s Techtextil, the ETTLIN Spinnerei und Weberei Produktions GmbH & Co. KG showcases three innovative product lines. With ETTLIN lux®, ETTLIN black and ETTLIN tec, the producer of technical textiles from Baden-Württemberg covers wide areas of modern architecture, from design to building protection or protection of property. The new developments are to be seen at the Techtextil in Frankfurt, an international trade fair for technical textiles and nonwoven fabrics, from the 11th to the 13th of June 2013 in Hall 3.1 at stand H 78.

Ettlingen, 20. March 2013. Three innovative product lines are showcased by the ETTLIN Spinnerei und Weberei Produktions GmbH & Co. KG at this year’s Techtextil in Frankfurt, an international trade fair for technical textiles and nonwoven fabrics:

Photometric special fabrics for three-dimensional acoustic and light design

The photometric special fabric ETTLIN lux® has already been awarded several times. When LED-light shines through the high-tech material, fascinating three-dimensional light objects, also called luminous structures, are created. This is an effect that the newest product of this line uses to its advantage: the decorating fabric ETTLIN lux® Decolux joins the light-technical properties of ETTLIN lux® fabric with the aesthetic and haptic advantages of high quality home textiles. ETTLIN lux® Decolux cannot be differentiated from conventional decorating fabrics in terms of optics, haptic and coloring. However with illumination, its decorative design steps back in favor of an ambient light design. At the Techtextil, the light-technical fabric will be presented as a ready to use acoustic module for the first time. The modules can be combined in any preferred way and not only support the room lighting as decorative elements of wall or ceiling: they also contribute to the efficient absorption of speaking (wave-band 200 to 600 hertz). The modules are suitable especially for the improvement of room acoustics for open-plan offices, office areas, bars, restaurants, as well as conference and function rooms. Used as large area ceiling installations for a relaxed atmosphere or as decorative room element for tomorrow’s work and living spaces: ETTLIN lux® Decolux offers new possibilities in the field of acoustic and light design. The material is available in a wide spectrum of colored decorating sets with stripe optics, mélanges or surfaces with structure.

Architecture fabrics for outdoors

Fabrics of the ETTLIN black product line were developed especially for outdoor use. The first product of this - also very new line - is the transparent and cooling weather and light protection ETTLIN black transProof. The new type of material offers outstanding shadowing qualities as well as protection from humidity and wetness due to its dense surface. At the same time, the material shows an increased permeability of air that guarantees cooling shadow without heat accumulation. Due to its transparent properties, the lightness of airy spots is maintained, while a special finish filters certain wave lengths and harmful UV radiation. This makes ETTLIN black transProof interesting especially for the usage in windows, as awning or parasol, carport or building cover, as well as for the construction of membranes. Another product of the ETTLIN black line and thus also showcased in Frankfurt is a PVC-free outdoor fabric. Due to the renunciation of PVC and the associated, potentially harmful softeners, the material stays healthy for living areas and is especially suitable for garden furniture and sun loungers. The material shows no loss in long-term stability due to specially developed high-tech thread material, is resistant to UV radiation, does not fade and is also inflammable.

Smart textiles with integrated microelectronics

The product line ETTLIN tec stands for the development of high-tech materials that are functionalized by conductible textile structures and the integration of microelectronics. This way, not only electrical functions like heating and the detection of housebreaking can be realized, but also sensor functions and precise measuring are possible. ETTLIN will showcase first function examples and prototypes of this line at the Techtextil that join the special properties of a textile structure with the functional possibilities of electronics in a unique way. Included is a fabric for stress and strain measuring that is being developed as part of a structural health monitoring system. The sensor fabric permits the continual monitoring of strain in fiber-reinforced elements or buildings without time-consuming and expensive examinations. Another development product of the ETTLIN tec product line is a flexible LED-curtain that can be used in event technology or as a textile video screen. The curtain is equipped with LEDs (RGB) that can be remote-controlled individually. Nonetheless, the curtain convinces with an airy, textile structure.

To be seen at the Techtextil in Frankfurt, international trade fair for technical textiles and nonwoven fabrics, from the 11th to the 13th of June 2013 in Hall 3.1 at stand H 78.
