Making sure robots do their job right - ELMA365

Robots are a big deal, everyone wants them, but does everyone know how to use them? Alex Trefilov, the head of ELMA365, talks about the best ways to use robots in business processes.

When looking for a solution, it is important consider which tool would be best for this particular case. A multi-use tool, which many people are eager to adopt, often turns out to be the most expensive option, yet not the most efficient one.
When it comes to losses, the biggest problem of any business is miscommunication. One person misreads the instructions, the other person misinterprets the feedback, someone else misorders the documents. As a result, the work is simply not done. Yet, this can be avoided when using the right software.
I am a strong believer in BPM systems as a tool for organizing communication and collaboration in a company. They definitely do the job so I wouldn’t say that BPM software isn’t efficient without robots. RPA, however, is focused on routine work, which is a part of many processes automated with BPM. Robots are great for data processing tasks, for working with spreadsheets, copying and uploading information. By applying RPA to such operations, you can significantly increase the efficiency of your business.
RPA offers quick and affordable integrations, and an incredible implementation speed. Instead of spending months, you need just a few days or a week to set up a configuration. This really empowers business users, who can test their ideas faster and not depend on the programmers. Robots can even be integrated into your legacy systems if that is what your organization is using.
However, there is a pitfall you want to avoid. If you are thinking to implement RPA for automating just one task, you might actually spend more money on this project than you will save by using a robot instead of hiring a person. What you gain with robotic automation depends greatly on the number of tasks that you are assigning to the robots.
Speaking of the cost, there are different ways robots are priced. ELMA365 offers a seamlessly integrated solution, meaning that on the top of the low-code platform the RPA will cost very little. There is also another approach that I personally do not like much that is when vendors charge you monthly. It is like the robots are your employees, which is kind of weird considering the entire concept.
