Fashionlocals launches 24 stores in the public online beta phase

The new Munich-based start-up FASHIONLOCALS has launched the public beta phase. From now on, fashion fans can jet through Europe’s hottest stores with just the click of a mouse at www.fashion-locals.com.

FASHIONLOCALS offers an online shopping platform for fashion lovers. The new start-up's aim is to turn the international flair for shopping in the world’s fashion metropolises into a unique experience over the Internet. To get there, the people behind the portal have presented products in a high-quality manner with first-class product photos in a realistic representation of the individual store design.

Retailers in Germany and abroad benefit from a higher coverage of target groups by FASHIONLOCALS, appealing and standardized product images, and secure payment processing. What’s more, the entire shipping management process is taken care of, including setup and maintenance. Although no fixed costs are incurred, incorporation and integration into FASHIONLOCALS does not happen as a matter of course: stores are chosen very selectively by fashion scouts who screen interesting markets. Retailers therefore need to fulfill certain requirements in order to emphasize the claim “Stay Unique” and become a partner. Anyone who isn't among Europe’s trendy fashion stores and cannot demonstrate an insider character will be trying in vain to be accepted onto the shopping platform.

The CEOs of FASHIONLOCALS, Andreas Muscheid (29) and Markus Haggenmiller (27), bring with them professional experience gained in renowned companies in M&A, Private Equity, Investment Management, and Risk, Return & Capital Management.

The start-up is funded by the Exist-Gründerstipendium (Exist founder grant) program from the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, co-financed by the European Social Fund. The co-founders include the CEOs of Videri Concept GmbH, Jakob Beyer and Florian Kappert. In addition to the development and optimization of the platform technology, expertise from the fields of marketing, advertising and photography is also contributed.
A team of 18 now works on the project. Muscheid takes on responsibility for Finance, while Haggenmiller concentrates on the continuous expansion of the store portfolio.

There are currently 24 stores in the public online beta phase. In the coming months, that figure is set to rise to 50. The focus lies on Europe outside of Germany, including London, Paris, Milan and Copenhagen.
