May 22, 2019: IBM Launches Watson Tools for Agriculture
IBM is hoping Watson can improve the future of food and crop years as it launched a global version of its cognitive tools for agriculture, ZDNet reports. Watson Decision Platform for Agriculture aims to combine predictive analytics, artificial intelligence, weather data, and Internet of Things sensors to give farmers insights on plowing, planting, spraying, and harvesting.
In August 2021, John Deere acquired Bear Flag Robotics for USD 250 million. Bear Flag Robotics was founded in 2017 and specialized in autonomous farming heavy machinery.
In July 2021, AGCO Corporation launched the pilot of its Precision Ag Line (PAL) program, a tool designed to streamline support services for farming customers using AGCO solutions with mixed-fleet operations. PAL makes precision farming expertise available to farmers using products from widely-used AGCO brands such as Challenger, Fendt, Gleaner, Massey Ferguson, and Precision Planting.
In July 2021, DeLaval launched a new parallel parlor system designed explicitly with family farms and grassland customers. The DeLaval Parlour P100 delivers a smoother milking process using fewer resources and enabling the right automation to be used for every single farm.
In June 2021, CNH Industrial acquired 100% of the capital stock of Raven Industries Inc. at USD 58 per share. The acquisition results from a long partnership between London-based CNH Industrial and Raven Industries, enhancing CNH's position in the global agriculture equipment market by adding strong innovation capabilities in autonomous systems and precision agriculture.
In April 2021, AgJunction and Mahindra have collaborated to demonstrate autosteering technologies in Turkey. The demonstration will be carried on a Hasret 125 Lüks CRD4 tractor, built by Erkunt Traktör Sanayii A.Þ in Turkey. The demonstration will be conducted over a six to eight-month period and cover all aspects of crop planting, tilling, fertilization, irrigation, and harvest, leveraging the accuracy and continuity of the AgJunction precision guidance solution on the Mahindra Erkunt tractor.
In November 2020, John Deere launched a new precision Ag application, AutoPath, to help producers more accurately document and follow each row of crops in fields throughout the season. This application uses data collected from the first pass in the field to establish precise row guidance for all subsequent field passes, no matter the machine type or width of the equipment.
