New Delhi, November 9, 2021: Noting that the pandemic has significantly disrupted the preventive screening of diabetes in the city, and may increase chances of developing diabetes in at-risk population, leading alternative & holistic health service provider Homoeo Amigo has launched free diabetes screening and awareness camps at its 6 clinics across Delhi-NCR. The camps as a part of Homoeo Amigo’s special drive, titled ‘Jeevan Ki Mithas Rakhiye Barkarar’, launched on World Diabetes Day earlier this year.

India is deemed as the world's capital of diabetes. The diabetic population in the country is close to hitting the alarming mark of 69.9 million by 2025 and 80 million by 2030. As per a study released in July 2021, 12.3% of children aged 10 to 19 years in India were found to be pre-diabetic or diabetic. It is important for people living with diabetes to manage it with the right nutrition and medicine that improves quality of life and reduces the long-term effects of allopathic/western medicines. Besides, unhealthy lifestyle, fatty and sugar-rich diet, and lack of physical activity are making India’s young population, especially in cities, vulnerable to type 2 diabetes. Though early diagnosis of prediabetes is proven to reverse the condition, awareness about one’s glucose tolerance status is poor, leading to people becoming diabetic before they are diagnosed.

The camps will be held 6 days a week at Kalkaji, Noida- Sector 18, Vaishali, Mayur Vihar Phase-1, Malviya Nagar, and Lajpat Nagar (Amar Colony) clinics till 31st December, 2021. All camps will provide access to doctors without waiting, constant monitoring, customized medications, and expert guidance on building a healthy lifestyle.
