The GoDown Home Furnishings & Decor Boutique Opens First Store in Singapore's Zion Road Neighborhood
(SINGAPORE, February 1, 2013) – Today The GoDown, with a vast array of re-found and new home furnishings and décor, opens the doors of its first retail location at 44 Zion Road in the River Valley neighborhood in Singapore. The stylized warehouse-like space is contemporary and brimming with extraordinary discoveries, new accessories and more.“We are thrilled to be celebrating the opening of our first The GoDown store today in Singapore,” said Audrey Lee, founder of The GoDown and interior designer. “The GoDown store brings the brand to life in a new and exciting way with a curated assortment of often one-of-a-kind finds to inspiring must-have pieces.”
Historically in Singapore, a ‘godown’ was a commercial warehouse building on the riverfront for storage of goods in-transit to its future home destination across the world. And today, The GoDown keeps true to its namesake – the new space has a clean, open feel, big enough to accommodate the huge selection of home items for sale – actually everything in the store is available for purchase.
The space is a collection of stories; a living epithet of each product’s journey. Aesthetic, functional, inspired and unique: each product is destined to find its way from The GoDown “warehouse space” into a customer’s home.
“As an interior designer, I constantly sought that one special piece to complete a project or simply when re-decorating my own home,” says Audrey. “I constantly travelled the world over in search for these unique, often one-off finds. Today’s customers expect accessibility and ease. And it is with these specific ideas in mind that I wanted to bring The GoDown to the residents of Singapore and to travellers from abroad.”
The retail store will feature a new collection of items each month in homewares, accessories and decorative furnishings. What’s here today is gone tomorrow, so get down to The GoDown.
To mark the opening of the Singapore store, The GoDown hosted a private traditional English High Tea with Cocktails event last night at the store location. For more information or to request images, contact us at media@thegodownstore.com.
