Footage libraries mobile search

Footage libraries mobile search

Web statistics data research carried out by a digital asset management developer showed relentless growth of mobile search for footage libraries.

Bold Endeavours, a software and web development company released research which estimates and predicts the use of mobile use in searching and working with footage libraries. According to the released data, due to constantly growing number of mobile search, footage libraries without mobile version could experience 10% drop in revenues in 2013, and at least 40% within 5 years.

The number of mobile devices and their users is skyrocketing. The competition on the smartphone and tab market gives pretty clear prospective that the web is going mobile. Unfortunately many site owners still don’t attach importance to these facts. According to Bold Endeavors’ research, 60% of footage libraries still show their video clip search results in Flash. It means that users of i-Devices will not be able to play videos at those sites. Additionally to this, the research shows year on year rise of mobile visitors of footage libraries which is advancing at record speed of 254%.

If the situation continues to develop with the same pace, mobile search will account about 11% of the footage library search in 2013, and will gain impressive 44% in next 4 years.

This research was released by Bold Endeavours as they launch a new library platform for the mobile web with inbuilt transcoding and adaptive interface for mobile and touch screen users.

“Among all mobile search traffic i-Devices will get a share of 30%. The specifics of Apple gadgets are that they won’t play Flash. So the question is whether smartphone and tab users get to see any footage at your site at all? This raises even more serious question of your site being enabled for the mobile web”, – says Derek Mansfield, the President of Bold Endeavours Group.
