Press release from: Fleming Gulf Conferences

The Waste Management Forum Oman on 25 - 26 March 2013 in Muscat, will take the steps towards greener Oman and to inspire Omani's of the efficient waste and recycling systems to benefit the environment regionally and globally.
Muscat, 29 January 2013 - Oman receives approximately 1.62kg of waste per person generated in a day, which is equivalent to 4370 tonnes per day and 1.6 million per year in the whole country. By 2020 the solid waste is expected to reach 4.6 million tonnes per annum based on current generation rate, according to the reports from the Oman Environmental Services Holding Company (be'ah Oman). Definitely an alarming bell, that may put more stress on the landfill sites of the Sultanate of Oman.

An integrated waste management system is required to help reduce different types of municipal, electronic and hazardous industrial waste. Oman’s government through Be’ah has initiated several awareness campaigns and education programmes to teach people for reduction, recycling, collection, treatment and disposal, so that there will be cleaner environment and minimum waste to be managed.

The planning and development initiatives by Oman toward waste management strategies and policy structure is set to provide safe and clean environment to the Omanis. Implementing ways of integrated waste management solutions to the country will get a thrust when national and international experts from renowned organizations meet at a forum to be staged in Muscat on 25 – 26 March 2013.

The Waste Management Forum Oman, initiated by Fleming Gulf Conferences as a platform to take the steps further towards greener Oman and to inspire Omani's of the efficient waste and recycling systems to benefit the environment regionally and globally.
