Distec Announces Customized TFT Display Shapes and Sizes

Extra Wide Screen Sizes and Triangular Shapes for Industry Usage and Digital Signage

Germering (Germany) January 17, 2013 - Distec GmbH - leading German specialist for TFT-LCD flat screens and system solutions for industrial and multimedia applications - broadens the product platform of our digital signage solutions with TFT displays in new and unique formats. Customized width-to-height ratios are now possible with horizontal and vertical alignment. "In addition to extra wide screens, Distec has also enabled customization of our freeform displays to meet customer needs," said Dieter Kiermaier, Sales and Marketing Manager at Distec. "We now offer triangles and other eye-catching formats for point-of-information (POI) or point-of-sales (POS) usage. We can now accommodate small format requests, for example, for displays in public transportation where space in height is very limited." Additional applications for ultra-widescreen displays include wayfinding for public transportation or shopping areas and menu boards for fast food and quick service restaurants (QSR). For visual information systems such as building signage and guide posts, small formats are advantageous.

Tailored Precisely to the Pixel

Square, rectangular and triangular formats are now available from Distec. Any TFT display with a removable frame and mechanism can be customized but edge LED backlight is favored. The new laser technology cuts and seals the LCD coating in one simple step, allowing for pixel-perfect cuts with no degradation of image quality. Touch panels can also be adapted to square and rectangular specifications and used in portrait or landscape mode. Control of special format displays is enabled by LVDS/TTL technologies and Distec also offers a wide range of Prisma and Artista TFT controllers.
