Female genital cosmetic surgery. Rising demand. Sensualmedics AG publishes its long-term study. More than 90 percent of women free of complaints after operation

Munich, July 25rth 2007 Also in Germany, an increasing demand of corrective operations in the female genital area is confirmed by the Munich-based surgeon, professor Dr Stefan Gress. According to a report published by AFP, British researchers have complained about the rising demand for genital area surgery in Britain (31%) without any comparing long-term study.

Professor Dr. Stefan Gress, head surgeon at Sensualmedics AG, has already been working in this field for many years. During his study which was completed by the end of 2006, professor Gress has treated nearly 500 women (in total more than 1000 female patients) and performed follow-up examinations for as much as two years. The result: More than 90 percent of all female patients were free of complaints after they underwent surgery in their vaginal area and they stated that their quality of life has risen significantly.

The British researchers have also questioned the indicators and therapeutical successes from surgery in the outer female genital area in an article of the British Medical Journal. But the study by the Munich-based surgeon at Sensualmedics AG proves that many women do not only suffer from functional complaints, but mainly from considerable psychological distress. Though the female patients seek advice from psychologists, this did not fully eliminate their complaints. Only after they were operated by an expert surgeon, they were able to solve their psychological distress as well.
