LGI, Herrenberg-Gültstein

Böblingen, December 12, 2012 – After 17 years in the city of Böblingen, LGI Logistics Group International GmbH is relocating its headquarters to Herrenberg-Gültstein where it will nevertheless remain in the same municipal district, Böblingen. The reason for the move is gratifying and also an indicator of future success: the company has been experiencing steady growth and as a consequence, employee numbers are rising constantly. It all started in Böblingen with a workforce of 160 people. Today, the logistics service provider employs more than 2,300 people at over 30 locations throughout Europe.

"I am delighted to see such positive development in the area and happy to see that substantial numbers of jobs are being created here again. We at the mayor’s office are keen to continue helping and supporting LGI’s growth process," said the Mayor of Herrenberg, Thomas Sprißler.

LGI has already been carrying out work for several customers at the Gültstein site for around 15 years. In moving the headquarters here, the contract logistics provider will benefit from more than just a central location with ideal transport connections and excellent infrastructure. The new head office also represents an opportunity to consolidate LGI's service areas which will achieve considerable synergy effects allowing the company's expertise to be focussed in one place and facilitating communication and teamwork among the staff. "The effect on LGI will be extremely positive: it will allow us all to benefit from short, fast decision paths," says LGI CEO Andreas Bunz PhD. "Furthermore, the proximity to operations at the same site and to other sites in the immediate vicinity will ensure that the service divisions, particularly Process Development, can work closely with the operational side of the business," he continues. Some departments have already started to relocate and will complete its move at the beginning of next year.
