"I'm a great believer in putting bikes and people together. We are one of Limerick's oldest family run businesses serving cyclists since 1916 and we are just really excited about bicycling and want to make bikes more widely available in Limerick and all over Ireland".

"I love bikes and the freedom they bring. It relieves stress and feels like there are no rules. Plus, I love the pain I can inflict on myself", he laughs.

Though there are increasing numbers of cars on the roads, John thinks Limerick roads are fairly safe for riding, despite lack of bike lanes.

"Cyclists still get honked at, and often", says John.

“Unfortunately, not a lot of drivers respect you on the road, my whole point is getting motorists aware of bikes and being a bit more courteous. After all, cyclists are helping the environment”

And the prediction for 2006?

"This year should see the biggest sales for bikes in years. The demand is huge", predicts John
