The past decade has taken me places and given me the opportunity to work with a plethora of brands and train business professionals across various industries. During the course of running an agency and my own brand, I was able to understand that there is a huge lack of knowledge and a gap between good digital marketers and the industry’s demand for the same.

This pushed me to establish Digital Scholar as an educational extension of echoVME. To establish the gap, I began curating and building both online and offline courses so that they are accessible by aspiring digital marketing professionals outside Chennai.

Digital Scholar was born out of realizing the desperate need for quality training and knowledge in the digital marketing field. People in business wanted to learn how to enhance their growth on digital. In contrast, students wanted to get trained in digital marketing to build a solid career. Other professionals wanted to learn the art of effectively earning conversions and leads for their business.

I wanted Digital Scholar to be the one-stop institutional solution for all these problems. We are India’s first agency-styled digital marketing training institutes. Students who take up our course are grouped into what we call agencies, and every group functions as an agency where they get to work with real-time clients and projects.

This prepares them for the industry right from day-1, and in addition to this, we provide them with the budgets to experiment with running ads and social media campaigns. We also provide domain and hosting rights for them to apply what they have learned, along with 100% placement support, partnering with some of the best agencies across the country.

Initially, we began Digital Scholar with the idea of conducting on-ground batches, with regular classroom sessions in the institute located in Chennai. Our first few batches received an overwhelming response, garnering more than 100 students. Soon, aspiring digital marketers from within Chennai dominated our audience.

So our audience was set - we targeted students who want to build a solid career in the digital marketing field, entrepreneurs who wanted to go digital with their business, professionals who wanted to learn and develop their digital marketing skills and knowledge, and freelancers who wanted to expand their work into digital marketing.

Soon, the coronavirus pandemic brought the offline sessions to a screeching halt. As a result, we extended our training services and began offering online-only courses. This broadened our audience and students' scope, with people across India (and later, across the world) enrolling themselves into Digital Scholar. This proved to be a great opportunity for us to take Digital Scholar beyond the physical boundaries of Chennai and welcome students from across the globe.

So far, my stint with Digital Scholar has been an enriching experience. Here are my top 3 key takeaways from my journey:

- Always look to grow and see what new you can bring to the table. Digital marketing is a dynamic field, and trends are usually short-lived. So always watch out for what’s trending and stay on top of your game.
- Always be prepared for any sort of pitfall and have plans B and C drafted to tackle the same. The sudden requirement to shift our entire Digital Scholar unit online taught us valuable lessons, and we are now prepared to competently face any challenge that comes our way.
- Your success is directly proportional to your team’s passion. Make sure you build a team that is creative, passionate, experienced, and enthusiastic. They must be willing to work towards realizing the organizational goals.
