CDS CAD Download Solution Integrated in New Dorner CAD ConfiguratorAllows Users to Build Complete Conveyor Assemblies to Exact Specifications and Download CAD models
San Jose, CA, November 13, 2012. CDS (Catalog Data Solutions, Inc.), a leading provider of online product selection tools for industrial suppliers, today announced that Dorner Manufacturing Corporation has integrated the CDS ModelServer with their new CAD Configurator to enable creation and download of exact CAD models of custom conveyor assemblies.
Dorner designs, manufactures and integrates conveyor systems. “Our new Configurator is an intuitive 2D and 3D CAD platform that allows users to build complete conveyor assemblies to their exact layout dimensions. The CAD tool is an industry first providing the download of a single CAD model of the complete assembled conveyor, dramatically saving the time spent matching up individual files,” said Mike Hosch, Director of Product Development, Dorner Manufacturing. “The Configurator is engineered with tool guides and uses conveyor logic to only place applicable matching conveyor components together; if a system can’t be designed and built for actual use, the Configurator will not design it. This intuitive feature saves user’s time by alerting them of an erroneous design, allowing them to make the necessary adjustments before proceeding. When the design is complete, customers receive part numbers and detailed descriptions of all the components in the build, information to receive a quote, along with the CAD and 3D PDF files.”
Features of the new Configurator include:
• Eliminates design time spent assembling separate CAD models
• Improved accuracy of 3D CAD models
• Provides 3D PDF files for visualization by non-CAD users
• Download the exact conveyor assembly to specific layout dimensions
• CAD requests emailed in minutes
• Available on 2200, 3200 and 5200 Series conveyors (other conveyor
platforms will be added in the coming months).
“CDS is delighted that Dorner Manufacturing chose our leading SaaS CAD download solution (CDS ModelServer) and integrated it with Dorner’s online configurator,” said John Major, CEO Catalog Data Solutions. “CAD downloads save designers lots of time that they would otherwise have to spend drawing. Coupling them with an online design configurator as Dorner has done saves designers even more time. The result is a highly efficient and effective website visitor conversion tool that results in Dorner products being included directly in customers’ design or specification documents.”
Catalog Data Solutions helps industrial suppliers and distributors grow sales and strengthen customer loyalty through interactive online catalogs, ecommerce, 3D CAD model delivery and product configurator solutions.
