Smartphones and Tablets still unpopular in every day work of IT professionals?
A fancy design, sophisticated features and comfortable models which serve almost everyone’s taste and budget from low-price till high-end: Normally we know this from the automotive sector. But these days trends are followed by trends in other mobile sectors too. There is one innovation after another, not at least since the launch of Apples newest editions of the box office hits iPhone and iPad, Microsofts Tablet Surface and Nokias “flicker of hope” Lumia-models. Additionally Google, Samsung and Amazon come along with competitive devices as well.Due to the groundbreaking and striking presentations and launches, one could receive the impression that these new achievements mainly focus on factors like fun and prestige. Surfing, sharing, mailing, social networks, streaming, photos – all these applications seem to enrich only the leisure activities of its owners. But what’s it like in business world? Are Smartphone and Tablets relevant in the daily job routine of the ICT sectors representatives?
The IT-project platform freelancermap (http://www.freelancermap.com) has conducted a survey of 170 IT-experts on this question - with surprising findings: 62 percent (106 votes) of the participants state to prefer their Laptop while working and only use their Tablets or Smartphones to check mails while on the move. Solely 22 percent (37 votes) of the interviewed person seem to brim over with enthusiasm for their mobile devices concerning internet, mails and other features. In contrast 16 percent (27 votes) of the respondents indicated that mobile devices are not suitable for any purposes of business beyond phone calls.
It seems that mobile devices have not entirely established in everyday work – at least for ICT-freelancer and self-employed workers. Beyond the purpose of mailing, tablets and smartphones are used with caution as laptops are the preferred mobile devices by the target group due to their better computing capacity, higher storage capacity and the hard drive. As smartphones and tablets still gain in performance and the number of productive and efficient applications is rising steadily, mobile devices will surely fulfill the requirements of the IT-professionals better in the near future.
freelancermap (www.freelancermap.com) is one of the most important project boards and recruitment platforms for freelancers and companies in the ICT sector. With more than 300 new project openings every day and more than 60.000 registered users, freelancermap is the perfect source to find experts and projects.
