Bright CEO Matthijs van Leeuwen to Present “Extending HPC Clusters into Amazon EC2” at HP-CAST

Press release from: Bright Computing

Bright Computing today announced that Matthijs van Leeuwen will present the Bright Cluster Manager® solution for cloud bursting, as part of the HPC Cloud SIG session at HP-CAST. This conference, a premier consortium for advanced scientific computing organized by Hewlett-Packard, is being held in Salt Lake City, Utah, November 9-10.

Bright Computing, a Registered Amazon Web Services ISC Solution Provider, has built a comprehensive yet intuitive capability to extend HPC clusters into Amazon EC2. With a few mouse clicks or simple commands in the CMSH, Bright Cluster Manager provisions, schedules, monitors and manages these EC2 resources as part of the local cluster. Every on-site HPC cluster running Bright is automatically cloud-ready, at no additional cost and without the need for expertise in cloud computing.

Alternatively, Bright users can create an entirely new cluster in Amazon EC2, and manage these resources using Bright.

Dr. van Leeuwen will also present the use of Bright’s data aware scheduling capability for the cloud. Bright automatically makes the data required for compute jobs accessible in the cloud before the start of computation, and then moves the results back to the user upon completion. This capability eliminates the need to manually initiate and then monitor data movement, saving both time and cloud computing costs.
