AFTS brings Andreas R. Hofmann into the management team as a new co-founder and expert for the development of sustainable supply chains

As one of the few European providers of blockchain-based track & trace platform solutions, AFTS has been offering data management systems from Germany for transparent and sustainable supply chains since June 2020. The company name stands for "Assured Farm to Shelf" and thus expresses the company's purpose of providing customers with credible, forgery-proof and efficient evidence of compliance with their sustainability goals by all raw material suppliers located around the world - from local farmers to intermediate suppliers to the POS. While the offers of software solutions operating in Germany are primarily aimed at the textile and food & beverage industries, AFTS is initially specializing in the FMCG industries with a focus on the cosmetic industry (beauty & personal care).

The founding team of AFTS will be strengthened from September 2021 by the supply chain expert Andreas Rudolf Hofmann (43), who will in future be a co-founder with a focus on product management is committed to the further development of product and customer solutions.

Hofmann most recently worked as Global Director of Supply Chain Coordination at Symrise AG since 2015 on the development and optimization of sustainable supply chains for the BtoB company, which specializes in the supply of fragrances, flavors and cosmetics. Internationally, Hofmann was responsible for optimizing supply chains in the Cosmetic Ingredients Division. As an expert in supply chain and blockchain solutions, he came into contact with the founders of AFTS as part of a future generation program at Symrise.

The intensive collaboration that followed prompted Hofmann to switch to the AFTS founding team. “Sustainability is the major challenge that companies are currently facing. We also urgently need solutions for the cosmetics industry in order to be able to achieve sustainability goals quickly. Enough talk and planning has already been done. The founders of AFTS integrated the application of blockchain and crypto solutions into the offerings and designed them as SaaS (Software as a Service). This innovation mindset is absolutely necessary in order to define new technology standards from Germany in the future. I look forward to helping to shape this future with my colleagues at AFTS, ”explains Hofmann.

Hofmann is very familiar with the digital and technical challenges of sustainable supply chains as well as the demands of consumers on the manufacturing industry from the cosmetics and healthcare sectors. After completing his degree in business chemistry in Kiel, Hofmann moved after completing a one-year trainee program at Unilever to Hamburg-based competitor Beiersdorf. There he was responsible for the Raw Materials Management & Purchasing and Supply Chain Customer Management divisions for more than seven years, initially as Technology Manager and then as Key Account Manager. In 2012, he expanded his expertise in the cosmetics sector by moving to the Düsseldorf-based Pharma Waldhof (Roche Diagnostics) as Director Supply Chain Management, where he was responsible for and optimized both purchasing and logistics for the pharmaceutical company. The move to Symrise followed in 2015.

The entire founding team of AFTS combines many years of innovation experience from industry, consulting and IT. The founders Dr. Christoph Backhaus, Christoph Langewisch and Dr. Christoph Hauptenthal and Hofmann share the common mission of making an important contribution to achieving sustainability goals through innovative solutions along the supply chain.
