Copywriting ‘Job Rates’ Survey Launches

Palm Desert, CA, Oct. 13, 2012 Written communication is at the heart of all business, and most competitive businesses could not survive without well-crafted, professional writing.

While some business institutions and organizations can afford to have full time writing staff, the vast majority of businesses must outsource for their writing and copywriting needs.

Lacking clear pricing guidelines on either the client or the freelance side, copywriter Chris Marlow came to market in 2005 with the industry’s first statistical benchmark for 20 common copywriting jobs, the Freelance Copywriters Fee & Compensation Survey™. Demand for additional pricing was so strong that she came out with a second version in 2007 with statistical pricing benchmarks for 40 additional copywriting jobs.

Six years later Marlow is bringing to market a third Freelance Copywriters Fee & Compensation Survey™, this one more comprehensive than the first two, and updated not only for current pricing guidelines, but also for the additional copywriting tasks that have entered the market.

While the traditional copywriting categories are as relevant as ever — print ads, direct mail, email, and websites — the evolution of communications has brought a new emphasis on “content, “custom content,” social media posts, Tweets, scriptwriting, and blog posts.

There is now also a stronger emphasis on traditional presentation tools such as Microsoft® PowerPoint®, thanks to the low cost of messaging elements such as images, audio, video, and special effects teaching software.

The Survey is expected to be active through at least January 2013 although there is no formal end date. Upon publication of the results, this Survey will offer businesses and writers the most accurate and complete set of pricing benchmarks in the marketing industry.
