For the fifteenth consecutive year, Adelphi University will host Arts Day. At the annual fall arts conference, scheduled on October 16, 2012, talented performing arts high school juniors and seniors participate in intensive workshops in dance, music and theatre at our magnificent 53,000-square-foot Performing Arts Center (AUPAC), 1 South Avenue, Garden City, NY. The conference will take place from 8:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. The Arts Day featured artist will be two-time Tony Award winner Christine Ebersole. For the second time, Adelphi was awarded a prestigious grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) in support of this initiative to help bring the arts to a wider community.

During the full day conference, students will have the opportunity to gain valuable professional experience and learn from experienced Adelphi performing arts faculty through diverse hands-on workshops in areas of the craft, discussion and practical experience. Workshops include training in acting, dance, technical theater and music. Teaching artist Jeremy Williams will return to deliver two workshops specific for high school teachers in the arts. Founding director of Convergence Theatre Collective, Williams has led numerous arts organizations in artistic, educational, social media, promotions and revenue/funding projects. William’s workshops will include topics on "Risk and Innovation in the Classroom" and "Evaluating the Creative Process" Always a popular event in the fall, Arts Day attracts more than a total of 200 students and teachers in nearly 20 school districts.

After a day of intensive workshops, the event will culminate with a question and answer session open to students by two-time Tony Award winner Christine Ebersole. Accomplished in the world of television, screen and stage, Ebersole has been an actress for more than two decades. She has appeared in Oklahoma!, Camelot, Blithe Spirit, Dinner at Eight, and the revival of 42nd Street for which she won the Tony award. She also took home the Tony for originating the legendary dual role performance in Grey Gardens. She will return to the AUPAC on March 22, 2013 with Edward Hibbert in a cabaret of Noel Coward songs, “Love Noel, The Letters & Songs of Noel Coward” on the Concert Hall stage.
