For instance, in February 2020, Ekso Bionics Holdings, Inc. declared the global introduction of its upgraded EksoPulse platform. It is an advanced cloud-based information technology platform which is intended to measure and examines the progress using EksoNR robotic exoskeleton. It is an improved analytics system that features an easy-to-use dashboard to map activity in rehabilitation sessions, leveraging the experience of the institutional, clinician, and the patient’s in terms of the usage of the exoskeleton. This new platform uniquely supports physicians and physical therapists to track and provide personalized care to the patient with EksoNR exoskeleton.
During rehabilitation sessions, EksoPulse is used to capture necessary measures of the patient’s progress, such as the number of steps taken, how much support was given to a patient and the quality of steps. Later on, the data is synchronized through cellular technology and sent to Ekso’s secure, cloud-based system. It allows clinicians to log in into the EksoPulse portal to view a dashboard and generate a report for the analysis of patients’ progress and keep track changes in the performance of patients. This information supports physicians and physical therapists to adjust care plans which can have an optimal effect on patient recovery.
Moreover, in November 2019, Toyota launches WelWalk WW-200, a new version of the walking rehabilitation robot, with an updated feature of the previous model, WW-1000. This aims to support rehabilitation of patients with lower-limb paralysis which occurs due to stroke or other causes. It features rehabilitation support functions for greater ease of use in clinical environments and is based on motor learning theory. In Particular, it provides additional functions which show display assistance settings in real-time to facilitate a game function that motivates patients to continue with their rehabilitation efforts and improve their gait abnormalities. The production of WelWalk WW-200 will take place in the Motomachi plant of Toyota, with a target of 50-unit sales annually. The innovations in rehabilitation robotics is offering new hope for physically impaired patients to live an easier life and recover faster. This, in turn, will accelerate the growth of the global rehabilitation robots market.
