Interactive Cell Phone Tour Launched at Mobile Carnival Museum

Visitors can now use their mobile devices to learn about Mardi Gras with a new mobile tour at the Mobile Carnival Museum. The Museum, which highlights the history of Mardi Gras in its true birthplace, Mobile, Alabama, partnered with OnCell to bring their exhibits to life through the visitors’ own mobile technology. By dialing a tour number on a cell phone or visiting the mobile web tour on a smartphone, visitors can engage with the Museum to hear compelling audio about the history of Mardi Gras.

“Now, visitors have the choice of touring with a guide, or using the cell-phone friendly self-guided tour,” said Judi Gulledge, Executive Director. “Some of the first visitors to use the new cell phone audio tour found it to be engaging, entertaining, and informative. We hope this will offer guests the opportunity to experience Mardi Gras year round.”

In partnering with OnCell, the Carnival Museum can affordably educate its visitors who want to take a self-guided tour. OnCell’s state-of-the-art tour building platform allows the Museum to make real-time changes to the tour, record their own content over the phone, and track tour statistics.

Visitors may access the cell phone tour by dialing the tour number found on any tour sign, and pressing the number associated with that point of interest. The self-guided tour enables visitors to listen and learn while browsing the exhibits at their own pace.

In addition to cell phone audio tours, OnCell offers other interactive mobile tour experiences and features such as QR tours, mobile web tours, mobile giving campaigns, mobile survey programs, text messaging and smartphone applications. We are mobile communication experts who are passionate about the arts and education, and we offer flat rate pricing and customized service plans to suit any budget.
