UPDRAFT U800-20 High-Speed Hoist now with GL certification

Highest levels of safety and performance now officially certified

Bremen, 14 September 2012

Advanced lifting technology specialist UPDRAFT has received GL certification for its U800•20 High-Speed Hoist. The certificate recognises the extreme performance and safety characteristics of the hoist, which boasts a payload of up to 800kg and operates at a speed of 20 metres per minute under load. Germanischer Lloyd will officially present the certificate during the HUSUM WindEnergy trade fair at the UPDRAFT booth located in Hall 1, Stand D10, at 12:00 noon on 18 September. The world’s leading wind energy trade fair runs 18-22 September in Husum, Germany.

The UPDRAFT U800•20 High-Speed Hoist facilitates greater efficiency for maintenance and construction procedures on wind turbine plants not only due to its speed. Its generous payload of 800kg also ensures the number of required ascents and descents is significantly minimised. Now, in addition to minimising costs and boosting productivity for operators, the hoist also boasts GL certification assuring adherence to highest safety and performance standards.

“Receiving certification from Germanischer Lloyd formalises the strong focus we place on delivering reliable performance with the highest levels of safety. It represents a further weighty argument for customers to choose our solution for their lifting needs,” explains Dr Heide Giese-Bothe, Head of Sales at UPDRAFT. The U800•20 High-Speed Hoist complements the ultra-lightweight and extremely successful LS range of UPDRAFT synthetic fibre rope lifting slings, which feature the GS mark for quality and can also be delivered with LA3 GL certification. Made of Dyneema® fibres, they boast the strength of their steel wire counterparts at just a fraction of the weight to ensure greater safety and significantly improved handling.

Germanischer Lloyd will be presenting the GL certificate for the U800•20 High-Speed Hoist to UPDRAFT at a ceremony taking place at the UPDRAFT booth at the HUSUM WindEnergy trade fair on 18 September at 12:00 noon. The booth is located in Hall 1, Stand D10.
