Implementation of MES-system by Siemens at Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center in Russia
In line with the scientific and technological innovation program of Federal State Unitary Enterprise (FSUE) Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center (Russia) for 2011-2015 and in order to increase the effectiveness of new high-tech equipment in the production units the enterprise witnesses the implementation of manufacturing execution system (MES) - MCIS (Motion Control Information System) by Siemens (Siemens Industry sector). The project was called «MES Khrunichev». The planned implementation of a full-scale «MES Khrunichev» system will allow to effectively manage machine tools with computer numerical control (NC), as well as universal equipment with specialized controllers.
The Motion Control Information System (MCIS) software by Siemens efficiently joins separate NC machines into a production network of a workshop or a whole enterprise. It includes a set of multifunctional program modules for machines and other equipment and provides an opportunity to plan the work and manage the production process and maintenance based on up-to-date information. Thus, the enhancement of efficiency and reliability of the machinery is ensured, together with a decrease in setup times.
Manufacturing execution system MCIS (Motion Control Information System) by Siemens at Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center has the following functionality:
1) Control of technological operations and quality of manufactured products,
2) Development and implementation of the operational production plan ensuring maximum capacity,
3) Control of monitoring of the goods movement on manufacturing transitions route,
4) Monitoring of the status and utilization of equipment.
In 2012, Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center (Russia) completed successful realization of pilot projects on MCIS (Motion Control Information System) implementation on factory floor at Space Rocket Plant (RKZ) (Moscow area), Voronezh Mechanical Plant (Voronezh, Russia) and Proton-PM (Perm Motors) (Perm, Russia).
MCIS will be integrated with Production Line Management System (PLM) (based on software systems NX / TeamCenter) by Siemens PLM Software and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system by Oracle.
The successful results of the current work in 2012 will insure the start of implementation of full functionality of the system MCIS (Motion Control Information System) by Siemens in the Moscow area and its replication in all major production facility of Federal State Unitary Enterprise (FSUE) Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center.
The contractor of the project is SITEK Group, a provider of adaptive operations execution software solutions for manufacturing organizations in Russia, Europe and CIS, and the main Competence center on MES-systems authorized by Siemens. Its associated company, INTENTA, will implement the system. INTENTA is an engineering company-integrator of software for manufacturing automation and production management.
Alexander Kosyanenko, Director of INTENTA and the head of MES department in SITEK Group of companies, said: "Any business leader wants to see the real results of the implementation of new technologies, improved efficiency and a quick return on investment (ROI). Leader needs "eyes" to help see the real situation on the shop floor and in the workplace in order to increase the rate of reaction to possible delays and breakdowns. Federal State Unitary Enterprise (FSUE) Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center (Russia) of course, keeps abreast of the times, which it is extremely important in the aerospace industry. We are, as an engineering integrator, were pleased to partner with Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center enterprise in this complicated project».
Note for the Editors:
MCIS - Motion Control Information System (MCIS) software by Siemens efficiently joins separate NC machines into a production network of a workshop or a whole enterprise. It includes a set of multifunctional program modules for machines and other equipment and provides an opportunity to plan the work and manage the production process and maintenance based on up-to-date information. Thus, the enhancement of efficiency and reliability of the machinery is ensured, together with a decrease in setup times.
Khrunichev Research and Production Space Center (KRPSC or, equivalently, KhSC)
was set up by Presidential Decree dated June 7, 1993, on the basis of the Khrunichev Plant and the Salyut Design Bureau, the then largest enterprises in the Russian space industry. The goal was to retain, to enhance and to develop further the space industry’s S&T potential, to make the industry more efficient in the new economical environment, and to enter the world space market.
In accordance with the space industry development strategy and subject to the Federal Goal-oriented Program ‘Defense Industry Restructuring and Growth in 2002 – 2006’ approved by the Government of the Russian Federation’s Regulation 713 dated October 11, 2001 it was decided to create, on the basis of the KRPSC, a major integrated business in the area of developing and manufacturing heavy-lift launchers. This integration was primarily aimed at safeguarding the Khrunichev Space Center’s existing manufacturing and S&T potential and to ensure fulfilling all governmental orders set forth in the Federal Space Program.
On February 3, 2007 President Vladimir Putin signed Presidential Decree on the Khrunichev Research and Production Space Center, a Federal State Unitary Enterprise.
It took nine months for the Khrunichev Space Center to implement, under the guidance of the Federal Space Agency and the Federal Agency for Managing the Federal Assets, the Presidential Edict, which provided for the restructuring of the then existing entity by the affiliation of four other federal state unitary enterprises.
General Director issued executive orders establishing the following KRPSC’s affiliations:
− Polyot Production Corporation,
− Dlina Moscow Hardware Kitting Company, and
− Voronezh Mechanical Plant,
on December 29, 2007 and
− the Isayev Chemical Engineering Design Bureau
on January 16, 2008.
All above procedures complied with (a) Presidential Decree 127 on the Khrunichev Research and Production Space Center, a Federal State Unitary Enterprise, dated February 3, 2007, (b) Governmental Regulation 185-r dated February 19, 2007, and (c) the duly registered Charter of the Khrunichev Research and Production Space Center, a Federal State Unitary Enterprise.
Today the Khrunichev Research and Production Space Center incorporates
− Space Rocket Plant,
− Salyut Design Bureau,
− Space Hardware Operating Plant,
− Medical Equipment Plant
as well as nine affiliated entities in 6 constituent territories of the Russian Federation (namely Moscow, the Moscow Region, the Vladimir Region, the Omsk Region, the Voronezh Region, and the Archangelsk Region) and in the Ukraine (the Planeta all-included seaside recreational hotel).
INTENTA(within SITEK Group of companies) (Russia and CIS)
Intenta (within SITEK Group of companies) (Russia and CIS) was launched in the beginning of 2012. Intenta is an engineering company-integrator of software for manufacturing automation and production management. It is a Certified Center of competence of Siemens AG in the field of production control systems in mechanical engineering. Intenta offers services on software implementation of the leading global IT vendors and industrial holdings for realization of a wide range of IT tasks at the industrial enterprise. Formerly Intenta was a MES (Manufacturing Execution System) business unit of SITEK Group (from 2008 to 2012) and developed into a new company to continue its core business - engineering and modernization of production and implementation of information automation systems (MES, APS, PLM, TDM) in manufacturing (discrete and continuous). Within the SITEK Group, the company Intenta is called – «MES» Unit.
Engineers and other experts of Intenta offer a full range of services and skills for the implementation and integration of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) (for discrete manufacturing) systems from Siemens AG; Advanced planning and scheduling systems (APS) from Preactor International; Production Lifecycle Management software (PLM) solutions (Tecnomatix) from Siemens PLM Software; and Tool Data Management solution (TDM) by TDM Systems.
We offer a broad-based approach to manufacturing optimization. At the moment, more projects have been implemented in the discrete manufacturing.
