Kwik.insure, an online insurance marketplace, opens its platform to serve OFWs

Insurance technology startup Kwik.insure has announced new insurance offerings that cater to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

The online insurance marketplace has partnered with Starr Insurance Philippines to expand its services and serve Filipinos abroad. The partnership will allow some 12 million OFWs to avail of Starr Insurance products online, forgoing the need for sending documents back and forth until the policy is signed. Clients simply have to log in to the Kwik.insure website, browse through the offerings, and purchase according to their needs.

Among the services offered are health, accident, and vehicle insurance. Coverage for COVID-19 is also provided. Payments can be made through e-wallets, debit and credit cards, and other channels available abroad.

Under Starr Hospital Protect, insured OFWs will be given daily compensation should they or their loved ones be hospitalized due to a sickness or an accident. Meanwhile, Starr Critical Protect will provide a lump sum cash benefit upon the diagnosis of any of the 51 critical illnesses covered by the policy.

Derick Narvacan, Country Manager of Starr Insurance Philippines, said the project is a way of “simplifying the purchase journey for clients,” adding that it is a “valuable step in bridging the insurance gap among Filipinos both here and abroad.”

Meanwhile, Kwik.insure founder and Chief Executive Officer Hamilton Angluben noted that the venture aims to provide protection to OFWs and their loved ones through the insurance services offered under the partnership.

“Since we launched the Kwik.insure platform in March, we saw that there is significant traffic coming from Filipinos abroad. Recognizing the demand from our modern-day heroes, we partnered with Starr Insurance Philippines to further democratize the access to insurance,” Angluben said in a statement.

Angluben added that OFWs sacrifice a lot to provide for their loved ones, creating a huge impact in their lives and the Philippine economy as a whole.

Kwik.insure continues to seek more partnerships to offer more insurance products to Filipinos. The platform plans to include property and travel insurance in its services in the future. Customers can request a free insurance quotation and directly purchase from the platform.

The online marketplace was launched in March 2020.
