Dispatch system: communication based on the plug and play principle
Balingen, 18th August 2012 - Bizerba is presenting the new _logisticsEngine.BRAIN software at Fachpack 2012 in Nurnberg from 25th - 27th September 2012 (Hall 4, Booth 133). It collects and manages data from scanners, scales and volume scanners and automatically forwards it to a dispatch system via a standardised interface based on the plug and play principle. The new software will make logistics processes significantly easier in future. Dieter Conzelmann, Director Industry Solutions at Bizerba, explains using the example of an automatic dispatch system: "In this kind of system several devices are integrated; scanner, scales, volume measuring system, PLC and labeller. Information, such as package ID, weight, package length, width and height are delivered to the dispatch software so that it can automatically choose the best mode of dispatch, produce a delivery note and return it to the labeller."
Bizerba developed the _connect.BRAIN interface software that provides a standardised connection for scales, volume measuring systems, scanners and price labellers to ICT quite some time ago. The _logisticsEngine.BRAIN software is a new module. Conzelmann explains how it works: "This is software that collects autonomous data from devices and automatically forwards it to the dispatch software, for example to the V-LOG software from the MHP company, who we have been working together with since the end of last year. Users do not have to carry out any programming work in terms of device communication and benefit from standardised, fast and interference-free communication via an XML file or web service."
And the software can do even more, for example, regulate the input and output of a programmable logic controller (PLC) for operating points. It runs on current operating systems such as Windows 7 and Windows Vista.
