We are global citizens, let’s embrace our true identity of inclusion. Getting to know more about people with disabilities means getting to know more about 1 billion world citizens.

WORLDWIDE, 1 July 2021 - Perceptions and attitudes towards Persons with Special Needs or Disabilities negatively impacts the quality of life of them and the people around them, preventing their integration into society. The lack of interaction and understanding between PwDs and the general population is a huge contributing factor. Among a range of concerns, many are underprepared for work and life as adults. As many as 1 Billion people around the world live with some form of disability.

In an effort to spark conversations on attitudes towards Persons with Special Needs and Disabilities, Twistrek Sunglasses and the Movement of Inclusivity (MOI) have launched a global campaign that aims to showcase the creativity of persons with special needs through their mascot Tanty - a symbol of care and community.

Art and fashion is a powerful tool for communication and self-expression. This led to the creation of the “TANTY” campaign. Each and every one of us has the ability to imagine and create unique forms of art regardless of your journey. The campaign will run from 1st July to 15th August.

Twistrek will be collaborating with illustrators around the world such as Alen Seress (IG: seressart), Yan Bing (IG: ahhbingbing), Jessica (IG:jessinfully) and many more.

Caitlyn Lim, Founder of Twistrek, said, “as a brand that celebrates diversity through fashion, empowering individuals to unleash their confidence and creativity. We believe in inclusion in the fashion industry and more brands should step forward to do so. Defying stereotypes and social barriers among all.

“We do wish to showcase more people that wish to share their views and express themselves in our sunglasses,” she added.

“We are grateful to MOI for working with us and making an amazing impact on society. ”

Who is Tanty?
Tanty is a tarantula that has taken over Twistrek’s Instagram account in search of new friends and interactions. Pandemic times have been hard for Tanty, he’s been tucked away under his rock for months. Web spinning used to be his favourite hobby creating beautiful webs, but now even that has become mundane for Tanty. He has been anxious and restless trying to find something new to do to no avail. Tanty is desperate for new interactions, friends and experiences.

Tanty’s outfit: New Sunglasses that brings a smile to his face


Unique, playful and quirky sunglasses. Twistrek’s creations don’t fit the conventional mould, they are not about blending into the crowd. They are made for you to stand out from the crowd. Dare to express and experiment with some alternative sunglasses. It is a festival everyday, as long as you want to.

Social Mission:

Individuals part of Movement of Inclusivity are creating unique artworks of “Tanty” the Twistrek Tarantula. Twistrek will then be showcasing their work, their journey and giving them a platform to share about themselves on Instagram. To facilitate more conversations and bridge the gap between different communities in a fun and playful manner, actively bringing inclusion into fashion. Selected artworks will also form a sticker pack that will be on sale.

50% of our sticker sales proceeds will be donated. On Sale for $10.

For every drawing that tags @Twistrek, Twistrek will be donating 10 cents to MOI.

About MOI
Movement of Inclusivity (MOI) is a Non-Profit Organisation seeking to make the world a more inclusive society for individuals with special needs. Their approach is to connect with stakeholders to create spaces that are catered for all (regardless the persons with special needs or general population) so as to facilitate inclusivity. They also aim to increase the accessibility of services and products to the community through their engagement and community projects. Such as “inclunema” - Singapore’s first sensory-friendly cinematic experience specially created for the special needs community and “iConversations”, a program targeting the general public aiming to facilitate conversations about inclusivity, discrimination as well as learning about the special needs sector. One of their newest projects include the “May I have a Seat, please” lanyard which is a permanent identifier that allows the general public and frontline staff to assist individuals with special needs on Singapore’s public transport network.
