Avasar Leadership Foundation Liberal Scholarships 2021 for Educational Empowerment of Girl Students

Under the Right to Education (RTE) Act, passed in 2009 by Government of India, a free and compulsory education is guaranteed for all children aged between 6 and 14, and the most recent figures for primary school enrollment stand at an impressive-sounding 98%.

However, girls and marginalized groups such as the very poor and the disabled are often left behind. While girls attend primary school in roughly equal numbers to boys, the gap widens as they get older and are forced to drop out to help with work at home, outside or get married.

Of the “out-of-school children”, one survey reported that about 62% were girls; they make up two-thirds of all illiterate 15 to 24-year-olds. The reality for many girls in India is harsh, with young women having little control over their lives. Almost 50 percent are married before age 18, just 30 percent graduate from 10th grade, and less than 40 percent work for pay. This is the target group which needs to be addressed but the question is who will bell the cat !!

Avasar was founded in 2012 in Bangalore by India based colleagues at a Global Logistics Major’s Anand Chaturvedi and S N Sriram, under the phrase “Ability is nothing without opportunity”. Anand saw many girls in poor socioeconomic situations, who possessed the aptitude and desire to receive higher education, but could not do so because of financial restrictions.

Avasar was created to help lift these girls out of the cycle of poverty through a comprehensive program that supports girls from their completion of the 10 Standard at age 14, through pre university and university courses, and until they have obtained employment.

Avasar vision has ensured that the parents of the girl experience no financial burden of education expenses; especially as it also provides stationary, dresses, bus passes, and a small allowance for meals during the day for participants. Avasar strongly believes that, “Ability is nothing without opportunity.”

Avasar has indeed come a long way since its inception. Today it encompasses big projects in the areas of Girls’ education which include scholarship, driving science literacy and digital literacy, training centre for personality grooming and a play school. Based out of Bangalore Avasar has now extended its ambit across 5 cities in India- Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Pune.

For availing the Avasar Scholarship, the girl student needs a score 80% marks or more in class 9.. Specified entry level is X, XII or equivalent with 80% + Marks Only. The candidates who will get shortlisted will receive a form of contact. They may either be contacted through an email, message, or a call.

The students of Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune and Gurugram can only apply for Avasar Scholarship. The Avasar Scholarship is limited to INR 25,000 per year and only applicable to the Indian citizens. EWS, BPL Income Certificate to be produced. The scholarship is limited to Rs. 25,000 Per Year. Foundation may also extend to scholarship offer to deserving students of Pilani schools who lost their parent due to Covid.

Important documents to be submitted by the girl student include Bonafide, C aste certificate, Marks sheet, Address Proof, EWS / BPL Income certificate and Passport size Photos. The last date for scholarship application form is on 30 September 2021. The form need to be filled through online and first time applying students have to register first. The registration is for login into official site for applying scholarship through online.
