Data Centre Cooling

06-03-2021 02:22 PM CET | Media & Telecommunications

Press release from: USystems Ltd

Data Centres just need to embrace innovation, and start thinking differently in terms of design - specifically for cooling infrastructure.

Data Centres now need to become smarter, to not work harder, to achieve efficiency and sustainability goals for future generations.

What they need, and this starts with planning, is to adopt a new design approach!

By working with innovative businesses, that have created products and technologies which have been constructed with Energy saving efficiency’s in mind for this sector, decisions can be made to adapt to overcome, and deliver on the promises all of those that work in this industry, to save the generations that will follow on from us.

But it’s those who are leading our industry today, those who design, those who decide how to cool the DC or if they should invest in the renewable energies, such as wind farms..... those people need to open up to innovative technologies that currently only the early adopters are benefiting from today.

Our industry needs better, more efficient and sustainable solutions now in 2021, not next year or in 2 -3 years.

The question we pose is not why, we all know why…… we need to ask how.

We all know, it’s out there, that this issue is priority number 1…… and it’s not just for the new facilities being built, it’s how we support legacy DCs too.

The numbers are counted……. With billions of users globally with multiple devices per person, creating and using data, the data centres that support these are using approx. 500TWh amount of global electricity, accounting for 100 million metric tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) of emissions released…. We have to address this!!

With DC footprints having to increase approx. of 375 MW estimated deployment in 2021 for the USA alone, the trajectory is on a steep climb.

So, as we need to plan ahead but also decide how to adapt legacy facilities, we need new innovations that can be adopted to both scenarios that will give is better efficiencies but allow for the Data Centre industry to be more sustainable.

Introducing Coldlogik, by USystems

At USystems, we have been working on efficient technologies since 2007 that allow our customers to reach IT densities in excess of 200kW and unprecedented levels of efficiency due to 100% heat transfer, more than any other technology, and without the need for supplement cooling with commitment that you can scale and be Sustainable.

The mission of USystems is to provide datacentre’s, hyperscale’s and HPC supercomputers with cooling solutions that are improving operational efficiency.

This has a huge positive impact on the TCO and a reduction in terms of electricity and water consumption which intern reduces CO2 emissions.

We believe that by 2022 there will be in the region of 30 billion devices connected, collecting and supplying data…. from 5G to autonomous vehicles or Edge Devices. We have already seen this with financial High-Frequency Trading, Video Streaming and home Working recently the main trend

With these trends, Datacentres will need then a greater power density and this, in turn, creates a need for a new and improved cooling design.

USystems focus from a sustainability standpoint, means you receive:

· A lower energy deployment compared to 30+ year old CRAC/H based technology

· Reduce the CO2 emissions.

· Futureproofed cooling for next 10-15 years

· Warmer water utilisation – giving more free cooling

· 100% Heat Transfer

· Limited Water Use / Closed loop water system to achieve a greater WUE number.

The USystems mission is to enable Datacentres to be better, and deliver better for future generations. Our technologies are designed to help datacentre’s and hyperscale’s be more efficient daily, so DC operations can minimize their impact on the environment.

We believe that our innovation can help DCs be sustainable
