Prime Force enables Kerberos Authentication for Adobe CQ5

07-17-2012 08:18 PM CET | IT, New Media & Software

Press release from: Prime Force Group

Employees of Prime Force developed a component which allows for the first time to use Kerberos Authentication in combination with Adobe CQ5.

The component was developed for the intranet of the CSS Insurance Company in Switzerland. Every employee who logs himself in the company’s network is automatically authenticated by Kerberos Single Sign on when he opens the intranet. The bothersome task of typing in the user data disappears. But the login stays secure; every employee has access to the intranet according to his respective usage rights. “The personalization of content in the intranet is gaining more importance, especially for large companies”, says Boris Weiner, Business Unit Manager Adobe of Prime Force. “The data volume steadily increases; to provide the employees with current and relevant information an authentication of the user at the system, usually with user name and password, is necessary. Our Kerberos component authenticates in the background, invisible for the user and secure for the company.”

Adobe offers with CQ5 an innovative and powerful solution for web content management, which is used worldwide by large companies. The network protocol Kerberos was developed at the MIT for secure and standardized authentication in unsecured TCP/IP-networks on secure host computers. The safety supplied by Kerberos is based on a distributed authentication service.
The Kerberos service authenticates the server to the client and vice versa, the Kerberos Server as well authenticates itself to client and server. The new Prime Force component is completely integrated in Adobe CQ5 and enables a Single Sign On solution for company intranets based on the Kerberos authentication.
