The Products Inspiring a Passion for Chess From a Young Age

Based on the classic Fritz & Chesster computer game from 20 years ago, a new double-sided chess set, magnetic travel chess set, and wall mounted chess set are making their way to the popular crowdfunding site, in the hope that a new generation of kids will fall in love with the iconic cast of characters.

The project started three years ago, when a group of parents decided to save the computer program that taught their children chess from extinction. They realized that, since the original Fritz & Chesster game was available only on DVD, the number of children able to play was getting smaller and smaller. But, just because the format was becoming obsolete didn’t mean that the game itself was any less relevant.

So, at their own expense, these enthusiastic parents financed and created an app version of the first part of the program, which is currently available to download on Apple devices. The mobile app has since been played by more than 20,000 children in five different languages and received rave reviews.

Buoyed up by their early successes, the group wanted to take things a step further. To get kids away from their screens and encourage them to play chess in real life situations, they came up with a selection of physical Fritz & Chesster chess sets. With a beautiful, bright design and a selection of friendly faces taken straight from the computer game, kids and parents alike will always look forward to playing.

Start up a game on the full-sized, double sided chess board, or take the competition out on the road with the compact travel set. You could even decorate the walls of your child’s playroom with the wall mounted magnetic chess set, which makes it super easy to explain chess puzzles and demonstrate strategies.
