For 60 years: Cables All-Round

This year Ernst & Engbring GmbH, one of the leading manufacturers of special cables, celebrates its 60th anniversary.

Currently, nearly 20,000 customer-specific E&E cable designs are being used around the world in a variety of industries.

In 1952, during a time of re-building and an emerging feeling of self-confidence, the company was founded by the brothers Herbert and Manfred Engbring together with Heinz Ernst, to satisfy the rapid growth in demand for telephone wires and strands.
Owing to the steadily-increasing economic development and technical progress, more and more data cables were needed over the next few years.

Many cables and cable systems which are now standard or which have even been superseded did not even exist at that time.
Even at that stage we were developing, improving and applying our products in close co-operation with our customers”, describes Lothar Klick, Managing Director of E&E, the situation at the beginning of the 70s. The company systematically expanded its production and extended its product portfolio.

20 years ago almost to the day, Ernst & Engbring, the former supplier of standard cables, was transformed into E&E, the manufacturer of special cables.

Today, Ernst & Engbring, with plants in Oer-Erkenschwick/Ruhr and Forst/Brandenburg, is one of the most modern and progressive manufacturers of customized special cables in Europe.
On in-house designed machines and with a separate area for miniature cables (down to AWG 56), the 300-strong company designs and produces for customers worldwide, including for medical technology. Quality testing is done in our own E&E test labs.

Michael Spicker: “Our customers often come up with the most unusual inquiries and with very demanding requirements. We have to develop special cable solutions which have never existed before. We re-invent cables daily or, to put it in a nutshell: “We are real cable specialists”. That is what we mean by “innovation from tradition” – and we have been doing it successfully now for 60 years.”
