New hope, Cheng Yang's work selected for Best script in New Media Film Festival
New Media Film Festival, founded by successful producer Susan Johnston, is an award-winning and innovative festival. Roger Corman, director of the Silence of the Lambs, said “I thank Susan and the New Media film festival for what they’ve done for young filmmakers.”
According to LATimes, New Media Film Festival discovers “Stories that exemplify the power of the cinematic arts to inspire and transform”. MovieMakerMagazine said this 13 year old "Festivals worth the entry fee". And HuffPost reported this festival “Makes the cutting edge accessible”. Its former winner, Emmy & Golden Globe Nominee, actor Matthew Modine, said ”New Media Film Festival highlights and showcases what will come next.” Emmy Award Winning director Nick Reed, another former winner at the festival, said “The NMFF is always looking to the future, challenging creators, the market and the audience to discover new storytelling.”
“To be selected by the New Media Film Festival is already a win,” said Cheng, “Writing helps me to overcome this difficult time.”
Graduated from New York Film Academy, Cheng is a writer director that upraises fast. He wrote three major TV projects over three years right after his master degree. Dr. Qin: medical examiner is a TV hit produced by Tencent video in 2018. As one of the lead writers, Cheng is the main reason that the show got 15 million viewership on v.qq.com. Power and Profit is a political drama, comparable with HBO’s House of Cards, starring award winning Chinese actress, Wenli Jiang.
As a lead writer, Mr. Yang will join Image Mraco Control Film Production later this year, on its coming projects. IMC productions is founded in Burbank California, by Mimi Masters. The company is known for its indie short film HANK, which is widely praised by the industry. IMC Production also coproduced million dollar TV project The Way We Were in the US.
