Arch Coal Inc Lays Off 750 Workers; Need for Hound.com Ramps Up
It has been difficult for companies like Arch Coal to stay in the game because of a growing desire for sustainable energy sources and inexpensive means of producing electricity. As demand declined, budgets had to be cut, leading to the need for mass lay offs. The majority of laid off workers will be coming from the Kentucky coalfields.
The company is doing whatever it can to stay afloat in this current economy but the rise in unemployment certainly won't do anything positive for recovery.
