CHARITABLE GRANTS HELP SACRAMENTO STUDENTS
Sacramento, CA: StudentReach today announces a new round of funding through donated laptops at a valuation of $2,000 and a grant of $20,000. This donation of laptops and financial grant comes from Giving Center operating the Learn From Home Project (www.lfhp.org). A valued donor of StudentReach. The nonprofit takes the used laptops that would otherwise be discarded and turns them into refurbished donations for their local teen life coaching program. The program teaches students how to be healthy in all areas of their life- socially, mentally, physically, and directionally. Currently students are being taught through zoom weekly, and amidst this pandemic, the program has been a lifeline to them.
“We don’t operate off of huge government grants,” says Jeff Devoll. Executive Director at StudentReach. “And during uncertain times such as these while donors still are giving approximately 3% of their income to charity, the federal government does not place a high priority on charitable giving. We are hoping some of the proposed changes to the tax code that further disincentivize charitable giving are revised to recognize the huge value that nonprofits provide to our country. Small organizations and individual donors fuel what we do and in this time of great uncertainty it is good to know other nonprofit organizations can step up to help us assist the people we help. Small organizations and individual donors fuel what we do and help us assist the people we help.”

This new round of funding will be used to help offset the costs of their coaching program. Specifically, the areas that are benefitted are:
• Hiring and training new coaches
• Creating content for parents and
• Adapting the curriculum to a webinar-based format

With teen depression and suicide rates having increased since March of 2020, StudentReach is playing an important role in teaching teens concepts they can put into practice to be mentally healthy. Alongside the teen program, parenting resources created by StudentReach on suicide intervention and safety planning, have been accessed 50% more in the last 3 months than in the last year. It comes as no surprise then that many students have reached out to their StudentReach coaches saying they are struggling with their mental health, and that zoom game nights and coaching sessions has given them something to look forward to.

StudentReach is a California-based 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. They aim to develop the potential of every students through empowerment, coaching, mentoring, and volunteering. Over 3,000 students have gone through and completed the life coaching program to date.

If it were not for the generous donations by Giving Center, the life coaching program would not be as successful as it is. StudentReach is extremely grateful for every donation received this past year from Giving Center, and others, who have donated through their online forms found at www.givingcenter.org. Cash donations can be given to www.studentreach.org/donate.
