Mr. Guthrie explained his background, how he decided to become a lawyer, the process of going to college and law school, the steps to passing the bar and getting sworn in, developing a law practice, and the day to day aspects of being an attorney. Attorney Guthrie spoke for the entire length of both class periods and answered questions from the students that ranged to the most difficult thing about being a lawyer to how a lawyer get paid in different cases and in different circumstances. The students asked a good number of quality questions and were interested and engaged throughout the class. Mr. Guthrie enjoyed his visit and the chance to represent the legal profession and contribute to the education of the students. Attorney Guthrie visits many schools throughout the year and looks forward to being able to come back and speak at Fort Dorchester again to future law education classes.
