CYA SmartRecovery 2.0 for IBM FileNet P8 Ensures Continuous ECM Repository Synchronicity
Automatically identifies repository corruption issues; provides expanded recovery capabilitiesShelton, CT, June 18, 2007 -- CYA Technologies today announced the availability of CYA SmartRecovery(TM) version 2.0 for IBM FileNet P8, the only solution providing live, discrete recovery of content and its associated metadata in minutes with no FileNet P8 downtime. CYA is the leader in solutions ensuring the integrity, discrete recoverability, and asynchronous replication of information within enterprise content management (ECM) repositories.
CYA SmartRecovery protects ECM repositories against more than 80 percent of all information loss incidents, which result from common, everyday occurrences such as programmatic, human, and logical errors, malfeasance, and metadata corruption (Strategic Research Inc. & AIIM International).
Using proprietary, application-aware Intelli-Capture(TM) technology, CYA SmartRecovery captures, validates, and preserves ECM content and its related, complex metadata (e.g. annotations, workflows and audit trails) in a single, synchronous pass. This ensures business continuity and operational efficiency by enabling an administrator to restore only the lost or corrupt information back to its original state in the FileNet P8 repository in minutes - with no FileNet P8 downtime. CYA SmartRecovery empowers organizations to maximize the productivity of their global workforces, as well as meet the need for application-aware information protection that is being driven by increasing financial and legal requirements related to compliance audits, inspections, and e-discovery.
CYA SmartRecovery version 2.0 for IBM FileNet P8 includes new features and functionality designed to provide expanded information capture capabilities, identify repository corruption, and minimize recovery times, including:
* Automatic resolution of “hot” backup synchronicity issues: Complements traditional backup strategies and empowers organizations to maximize productivity by enabling FileNet P8 to stay online during the backup process. “Hot” backup methods using traditional recovery solutions capture content and metadata asynchronously, which can result in broken relationships between the two, causing information to become lost or inaccessible.
CYA SmartRecovery performs synchronous, incremental captures of the content and metadata as frequently as every 15 minutes while FileNet P8 remains online, maintaining information integrity and authenticity. In the event of a system crash, the FileNet P8 object store can be rolled back to the last point in time using a traditional recovery solution, then rolled forward to the most recent CYA capture, resolving synchronization issues introduced from the system backup as well as minimizing the data loss window to minutes.
* Corruption detection: Optional Data Integrity Module (DIM) performs over 70 integrity checks that automatically identify the broken relationships (corruption) that typically exist in repositories between content and its associated metadata. This empowers administrators to perform preventative maintenance on the FileNet P8 repository by enabling them to resolve corruption issues before a user attempts to access the information.
* One-step folder recovery: Reduces recovery times by enabling administrators to utilize the folder structure of the FileNet P8 repository within the CYA SmartRecovery interface, and select folder names to quickly recover the content and metadata of all or specific files back to the repository in their original state. Because CYA SmartRecovery leverages the FileNet P8 folder structure, administrators are fully operational within hours.
* Lost and Deleted Information Tracking: Facilitates rapid recovery by enabling the administrator to see at a glance what specific information within the repository has been lost or “hard” deleted based on a particular date range, folder, or other criteria, and then recover just the needed information with a single keystroke.
“The capability to facilitate live, synchronized backups of the repository combined with the ability to quickly recover lost content and metadata back to its original state while FileNet P8 stays online makes CYA SmartRecovery a powerful solution that should be part of all enterprise recovery strategies,“ said Laura DuBois, research director of IDC Storage Software. “It’s a much needed solution in today’s business environment, in which companies are providing global access to central repositories, and backup windows are increasingly challenging to find. With CYA SmartRecovery, companies can ensure the integrity and recoverability of their information without any additional application downtime.”
“CYA has continued its tradition of innovation by leveraging its eight years of experience ensuring the integrity and discrete recoverability of ECM information to solve a long-standing issue that has prevented companies from achieving synchronous, hot backups of their ECM repositories,” said Wayne Crandall, CEO of CYA Technologies. “Since the new version of CYA SmartRecovery for FileNet P8 frees our customers from having to take FileNet P8 offline to perform synchronous backups with their traditional business continuity solutions, they are empowered to significantly minimize productivity loss, as well as mitigate the legal and financial risks associated with corrupt and inaccessible information.”
CYA SmartRecovery for IBM FileNet P8 is sold through CYA and its authorized channel partners worldwide. For more information, visit www.cya.com or call 203.513.3111.
