13:20 SUPREME NOVICES’ HURDLE
Over the last decade, the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, which has been shared fifty-fifty, is between the Irish and the British, is the opening Grade 1 at the Cheltenham Festival horse racing. 13:55 ARKLE CHASE
Many are considering the 2021 Arkle Chase as a three-horse racing, with Energumeme SHISHKIN and Allmankind as the leading contenders. They all look like they are in good shape this season. One that stands a high chance of winning is Shishkin. What is encouraging about this horse racing is the fact that out of the last previous 10 Arkle winners, six went to favorites. All of the six returned odds-on. In the past, Nicky Henderson has won three out of those winnings. However, he is behind Willie Mullins, who, over the past decade, has won four.

This year, Energumene represents Mullin and is heading to Cheltenham unbeaten over fences. He has won a Grade 1 chase before contesting in this race, unlike Shishkin. Another one to keep an eye on is All mankind. Although he has previously won a Grade 1 over fences, what is worrying is Dan Skelton’s runner age. It was only in 2006 that the last five-year-old won the Arkle. This came about when Voy Por Ustedes won for Robert Thornton and Alan King.

To summarize, Shishkin looks like he is going to claim victory for Nicky Henderson even though he has not raced in Grade 1 company over fences this season. It is good to know that out of the previous 10 winners, 9 of them had 149 Racing Post ratings. Compared to last year’s Supreme winner, this is positive against his two market rivals. Even with his age, the son of Sholokhov has good things happening.

15:05 CHAMPION HURDLE
There are two talented mares’ who are heading the Champion Hurdle field this season. Irish Champion Hurdle winner HONEYSUCKLE is hoping to clinch the title from the defending champion Epatante. Since 1985, Nicky Henderson has had eight remarkable career wins, making him the leading trainer. He has had several horses entered, including Buveur d’Air, who is a former two-time champion. On the top of the betting market, it has been a good race for horses. Over the past decade, there were only two winners at double-digit odds – Rock On Ruby (2012) and Espoir D’Allen (2019). Looking at the Racing Post ratings is the most interesting part. It is surprising to see that out of the 10 previous winners, 9 of them rated within 8lbs of the top-rated horse.

Honeysuckle and Epatante both have RPR’s of 174. The only other two horses that meet the criteria among the field are Silver Streak (169) and Sharjah (170). There is a different expectation this year and the winning streak of Silver Streak and Sharjah in the Champion Hurdle is about to be broken.

Out of 10 of those who have won in the past, 9 had no more than 12 starts over hurdles. The grain goes against Epatante since out of 10 champions, and eight secured a win prior to contesting this feature race. To summarize, there is a high chance of Honeysuckle to remain unbeaten.
