Press release from: Covid In Memorial

Announcing the launch of CovidInMemorial.com and inviting you to share your COVID-19 story with the world

Feb. 24, 2021 — Even while topping 500,000 COVID-19 deaths in the U.S. and nearing 2.5 million deaths worldwide, we’ve become numb to the numbers.

The number of cases, the number of deaths, the number of jobs lost, businesses lost, and people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic has started to lose its meaning.

In the beginning, even a few cases a day felt shocking, but as those numbers have increased, as the months have dragged on, the impact of those statistics that we see everyday has worn off.

But, those numbers represent people. People’s lives. People’s health. It’s someone’s job, their livelihood, their business, their ability to feed their family or keep a roof over their heads.

They are real humans with faces and stories to tell. Their lives are more than a statistic, and the Covid In Memorial website is a place to share those stories and visually see the impact that COVID-19 has had on the world.

The website, covidinmemorial.com, has launched and we are inviting anyone who has been impacted by COVID-19 to share their story with the world on the site.

After you register on the website, you can choose from the following categories when you share your story:
- Business Impacted
- COVID-19 Infected
- Education Related
- Essential Worker
- Food Challenged
- Frontline Medical Worker
- Housing Impacted
- Job Impacted
- Memorial of Deceased
- Personally Impacted

Registration is required on the site so that after you submit a story, you can go back and edit it later, if needed.

The goal of the website is to give a voice to each person who has been affected by this global pandemic and to visually show the wide reach and impacts of COVID-19.

As stories are submitted, people visiting the site will be able to use the filters and search options to find stories under each of the categories, by demographics, or by name or content of the story. You can see the stories submitted and the search options at https://covidinmemorial.com/stories/.

In addition, the website has a heatmap function at https://covidinmemorial.com/stories/map/ that provides a visual representation of where in the world all of the stories are coming from.

We are bringing together a global community because we have all been affected by COVID-19. By coming together to celebrate lives and honor this shared human experience, we will be able to overcome this pandemic.

Everyone who has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic in any way is invited to share their story and a picture on the site, to bring a voice to their struggles.

To submit your COVID-19 story, visit https://covidinmemorial.com/stories/share/, register on the site, and then fill out the form to share your own story or the story of a loved one.
