FastMed Urgent Care Launches Second Annual Keep Cooler Program

Clayton, NC, June 4, 2012 – FastMed Urgent Care launched their second annual “Keep Cooler Program” for the 2012 summer sports season. FastMed donates free five-gallon Igloo water coolers to any school (grade school, high school or college, private or public) or other organized sports teams in communities surrounding our 24 North Carolina locations. The Keep Cooler Program supports healthy hydration among athletes in the communities FastMed serves, particularly during outside play in the hotter months, to help avoid heat-related injuries and very serious health complications.
“At a time when the health and safety of our athletes needs to be top of mind for parents, schools, coaches, and the athletes themselves, we are pleased to launch the second year of our successful Keep Cooler program,” said Melvin G. Lee, M.D., Chief Medical Officer, FastMed North Carolina. “Making sure that athletes are well hydrated is crucially important to their athletic performance and underlying health safety.”
In its first season last year, FastMed gave away 52 coolers to area schools. The program was so well received that the urgent care organization ordered 56 more coolers to expand the program throughout the communities FastMed serves. FastMed seeks to partner with schools in the communities surrounding all of its urgent care locations, particularly through FastMed sponsorships and programs like the Keep Cooler Program, to create awareness that FastMed treats sports injuries, provides sports physicals and other acute care treatment within their communities.
